This February, Rochester will host the 2012 Special Olympics New York State Winter Games (Feb. 10-12) and Polar Plunge (Feb. 12). Nearly 850 athletes and coaches from throughout New York State will take part in the Games, and thousands of crazy plungers will jump in the waters at Charlotte Beach.

Athletes at the Games will be supported by more than 500 volunteers and compete in six sports, including Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Floor Hockey Team & Skills, Snowshoeing and Figure Skating.

Because Special Olympics New York offers quality sports training and competition opportunities at no cost to athletes, their families or caregivers, community support is critical to the success of these Games.

The Polar Plunge at Charlotte Beach to benefit Special Olympics New York is one of the many fundraising events that are all a part of The Law Enforcement Torch Run For Special Olympics.

This is your chance to be one of the thousands of chilled souls across the country who have plunged into winter waters to show their support and raise money for the Special Olympics

This is Rochester's Polar Plunge and it has become one of Rochester, New York's Most Exciting Fundraising Events. And since the Polar Plunge will be a part of the Lakeside Winter Celebration at Charlotte Beach, you can make a day of it and enjoy all the festival has to offer. There are many ways to become involved with the Polar Plunge this year and years to come. There are opportunities for Sponsoring, Volunteering, and of course Plunging!

Over the past year, the Rochester community and business leaders have contributed their time, talents and resources in planning and organization of these events. Come out and join us, because you can also play an important role in these community events when you Sponsor an Athlete, Join the Polar Plunge or to Volunteer at the Games.
