2012 State Fall Games, October 19th & 20th

Fall Games is one of three annual state games and more than 3,500 total competitive experiences held each year throughout New York. Nearly 1,000 coaches and athletes will participate in State Fall Games, with five hundred volunteers from surrounding communities needed to support the event. New York State Senator Betty Little will be the Honorary Chair of the event.


Athletic competition takes place Saturday, October 20th in 7 Olympic-style sports:



  • Bocce Adirondack Sports Complex

  • Cross Country Running Glens Falls YMCA – Cole’s Woods

  • Cycling Glens Falls YMCA

  • Equestrian Skidmore College – Van Lennep Riding Center

  • Golf Team & Skills Hiland Country Club

  • Soccer Team Morse Athletic Complex

  • Softball Team Morse Athletic Complex and Adirondack Sports Complex






  • Opening Ceremonies: Friday, October 19th at the Glens Falls Civic Center, featuring the Parade of Athletes, entertainment and the lighting of the Special Olympics Cauldron.

  • Athletic Competition: Saturday, October 20th starting around 8 AM in seven Olympic-style sports. Download the registration sheet for a detailed schedule.


Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Special Olympics, New York. We have closed our volunteer pre-registration for the 2012 Fall Games but we invite and welcome you to come and be a part of our ‘Fans In The Stands’ cheering section. Our athletes LOVE being cheered on & it makes for great competition!


Steps to being a FAN:



  1. Please report to Volunteer Registration at any venue & you will be checked in as a “FAN”.

  2. Go create a sign or banner at our “Fan Stations” that are available at each location.

  3. GO CHEER on the athletes and have a GREAT time!!


Our recommend time frame is 9am-4pm depending on the venue you choose. We encourage everyone to come in the morning as sometimes competition can end earlier than expected.


Bring a chair or blanket for comfort while cheering! Outside events will occur regardless of the weather, so please dress accordingly!


All FANS are asked to stay for breakdown as more hands = lighter work!
