Athlete Profile - Trent Hampton - 2010 State Summer Games
Trent Hampton, 31 years of age, started playing basketball 2 years ago and only practices one to two days a week. Playing on a team, working with other people is what attracted Hampton to join the team and play. When he plays he feels confident and competing is his favorite part.
The Special Olympics has changed Hampton’s life for the better. It has changed him socially, athletically, and mentally. He not only plays basketball, he plays floor hockey, cross country, and track and field.
The biggest challenge Hampton had to overcome was adversity.
He looks up to his coaches and admires their support to the team. He truly shined as following in his coaches footsteps as he mentored and supported his team whenever he had the chance.
“I am having an excellent time today at the state games,” Hampton said. “It is a good time.”
