Rochester to Host Special Olympics New York’s 2012/2013 Winter Games
Neal J. Johnson, President and CEO of Special Olympics New York, has announced that its Board of Directors has awarded the bid to host the 2012 and 2013 State Winter Games to the Rochester community.
A press conference was held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 15th in the Atrium of the Monroe County Office Building (39 West Main Street, Rochester, NY 14614). Notable speakers included Honorary Chair and Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks, City of Rochester Mayor Thomas S. Richards, Ann Costello from the Golisano Foundation and Special Olympics New York President and CEO Neal Johnson.
Winter Games is one of three annual state games and more than 3,500 total competitions held each year throughout New York. Nearly 850 athletes and coaches will be joining us from around the state. Volunteers from surrounding communities will be needed to support the event. [ continued ]
